Russ got his master's degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 1998. For the past 20 years, he has successfully rehabilitated patients at various skilled nursing facilities as well as at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital on Cape Cod. He is currently an Associate Professor at New England Institute of Technology in the Physical Therapist Assistant program. Over the past ten years, he has helped hundreds of students become licensed physical therapist assistants through his teaching courses in clinical kinesiology and neurological and orthopedic physical therapy. He has taken continuing education throughout his career in clinical kinesiology taping, geriatric balance and fall prevention, advancements in joint replacement rehabilitation, adaptive golf assessment and intervention techniques, stroke rehabilitation, and advancements in neurological interventions for various pathologies to include stroke, Parkinson's disease and multiple sclerosis.
During his long career, Russ has worked with the orthopedic outpatient population and with the pediatric population. However, his passion is working to improve the quality of life of individuals aged 40-100+. His work as a college professor allows him the unique ability to apply the most up to date research in the field of physical therapy assessment and treatment to his training sessions insuring the best possible functional outcomes for the clients in his community.
Personally, Russ strongly believes in the power of exercise to improve his own quality of life. He has run several marathons, half marathons, 10K's and 5K's. He has coached in various youth sports programs over the past several years and, through the implementation of his own designed exercise programs, he continues to play competitive baseball in a 35 and over league on Cape Cod.
